designer's own words:

Consistently our world is shocked by environmental disasters. Even if there are the best safety arrangements, floods, etc. can`t be avoided. But there is the possibility to improve the additives for the case of need.
Especially in situations of crisis and great fear light has got an important function, because it provides hope.
For this reason we planed an inexpensive and effective light.
It is based on an existing plastic bottle, in which the illuminant is inserted. Therefore only one part has to be produced, the second part is already existing and receives a new function. The plastic bottle is a daily object of utility and its cap nearly follows one norm worldwide.
The usage of a plastic bottle as emergency light has also many other advantages: waterproof/ floating/ impact resistant/ to atmospheric attack.
Furthermore there is an elastic band to hang the "bottle light" up or to fix it somewhere.
The illuminant consists of an aluminium tube on which the reflector is mounted.
After inserting the illuminant in the bottle the reflector opens, whereby the cone of light becomes bigger.
3 LEDs are the light source, which are adequate for the emergency light, because of their resistance and the low energy consumption.
2 AA batteries provide for the energy addition.
The protection for the reflector also serves as a pull-in guide fort he illuminant in the bottle.
