Car Mural

Car Mural by jakob neb from germany

designer's own words:

A parking structure as an urban sculpture:

Idea: This idea plays with the urban, tough aspect of the Qashqai. It also picks up on the urban graffiti influences, creating a mural of cars.

Concept: A wall storage for cars. Seemingly random pillars are sticking out of a wall, able to cradle a cars wheel. A computer calculates the space in between the pillars and arranges the cars accordingly. Since the wheelbases of cars differ only marginal in their segments and the pillars are wide enough for a range of sizes, the structure can hold a good cross-section of cars and can compete with other garages. It has an optimal use of space and creates a sculpture of cars in an urban surrounding.
For promotion of the Nissan brand, special spots will be reserved for the Qashqai and high-lited with slogans or installations (see pic. 2). The Qashqai will play a special role that underlines it been “urban-proof”. It will be parked at unusual and dramatic angles and automatically stick out of the masses of normal cars.

Artistic Approach: This concept turns a parking structure into a piece of art. Not trying to hide the cars, but rather making them an interesting and beautiful part of our urban environment. They already are part of our cities, why not play with them? According to the always changing pace of urban cities, it creates a mural that will look different every day, every hour.
