chiaroscuro

chiaroscuro by matteo crivella from italy

designer's own words:

A sheet of paper hangs on a paper support in which is situated a led stip. The light hits the protusions of the sheet from the upper side and produces a strong contrast between light and dark areas so to achive a sense of three-dimensional volume. In the painting art this effect is
called "Chiaroscuro" and it was developed mostly by italian artist Caravaggio in the 16th century.
This mixture of light and shadow redefine the morphology of the sheet which reveal a new identity, its nocturne skin and its more intimate side working also as light diffusor.
Chiaroscuro wall lamp is made in different colours using "Bristol" paperboard. Easy to produce and to install; there is no need of screws, it is so light and is attached to the wall through bi-adhesive tape.
