crystal memory

crystal memory by massimo mini I designboom from italy

designer's own words:

A simple game with an exclusive touch to bring a playful sense of magic to anyone who touches it.

Each piece is made out of two identical halves of cut crystal, rotated 90 relative each other. The two halves are joined together with a transparent polymer film with a plain ink color dot on. The color dot is covered by black thermocromatic leuco dye.

The game is played with all the pieces spread out on a surface. A player then picks up two pieces and holds them in his or her hand. The heat from the hand makes the leuco dye turn transparent, revealing the color beneath it. If the two pieces you've picked up are the same color you can keep them and continue. If they are not you put them back where you took them. As they cool off the dot turns black again. The next player then tries to find two matching pieces and the game continues until all pairs are taken. The winner is the player who has collected the most pairs.
