designer's own words:

dechef microwave oven engages a playful concept inspired by the carousel mechanism inherent in all other microwave ovens. 'Peepholes' on both sides allows one to view the cooking process of food on the carousel. Another highlight is the introduction of a musical tune (e.g. la vie en rose) during the cooking. Once the time is up, the rotation of the carousel and the musical tune stops.

the control panel is concealed behind the door so as to 'homenise' the product, making it look less like a techy machine. Buttons instead of knobs are used to adjust the power and time for greater accuracy. Interface is made easy to understand with the use of universal symbols.

To operate the oven, first open the door. Set the desired power and time and play play to activate the oven. Once the door is closed, the cooking starts and the carousel turns. To stop in between cooking, just open the door and the cooking stops as well. To stop it completely even when the timer is not up, press pause.

To heighten the visual engagement, uplighting is used on the carousel plate to illuminate the interior of the oven. This would thus dramatise the mundane rotating cooking process of the oven.
