designer's own words:

[DIZAJN] is an exhibition concept for a store that shows students' work of the FH Mainz. The visitor can choose among different plates that are lying in front of him and plug the plates into a hole in the table. The RFIDs on the back of the plate lets the computer know which student work needs to get projected on the baldachin. By rotating the plate a new RFID starts sending its signal and a new project gets shown. Every plate has 5 different RFIDs = projects so the visitor can have a look on a huge number of projects because every plate is different. The projects are categorized by verbs/nouns/adjectives that don't let the visitor know what kind of project he will see next. He just knows that the next work will have something to do with e.g. "wood" or "white" but he won't know if it is a film, a graphic or an interior design project.
Procedure
1.The student can upload his/her work on the homepage of [DIZAJN]. The works get reviewed by a jury of students and professors to secure a high quality standard.
2.The interaction in [DIZAJN] gets achieved by different plates. Each plate has a different size and decor and names 5 different attributes on its front.
3.Each table shows two circles of different size and a fork that are embedded into the table. The plates can get plugged into the table and then the visitor can rotate the plate to switch through the different projects. The projects get projected on different baldachins. The baldachins hang from the ceiling over tables. The visitor can choose where he wants to sit to start the interaction. The baldachins hang so low that the visitor has to bend his head to get underneath it. He physically enters a foreign world.
4.The visitor can as well buy something to eat in the in [DIZAJN]. He can choose between a black and a white cake but he doesn‘t know how the cake will taste like. The factor surprise is the main idea behind the packaging. Inside the cake packaging is the cake, a fork and a text on the bottom that explains how the visitor can save projects to see them later on the website of [DIZAJN]. To do so the visitor has to put the fork on the corresponding black fork that is shown on the table. Underneath that fork is a second RFID reader that reads the RFID tag that is on the fork. It has a personalized code that allows the visitor to see the saved projects on the [DIZAJN] website.
5.The coffee is served in paper cups and each one shows a quote of a student or a professor of the university. The quote can just be read when the coffee cup is empty because otherwise the coffee hides the words. The mug has a second function: When the visitor puts it on the black small circle on the table the mug becomes a speaker and starts to enhance the sound of the videos that get projected.
