Echo of the deceased

Echo of the deceased by Mu Wang from china

designer's own words:

The project deals with the notion of location and relocation, entropy state of one object. This topic is generated and followed by the walking city project I did.

In Venice, when someone died, they would use a Gondola to move the coffin to a island called San Michele, my program starts here.

The coffin is collected and burnt in the crematorium, the ash is then collected into ossuary box and placed onto a rotating plate powered by the heat from the crematorium. Each of this box's position is randomized due to different weight. Thus it forms a improvised music-box like structure. Each of them forms a dot and touches the metal plate corresponding to their location and transferring the vibration to the organ to the right. Each of their soul is then becoming one part of the whole music piece.

They say we all lose exactly 21 grams when we die. It's the weight of our soul. How much does our soul weigh?
