designer's own words:

Abstraction was the theme. Without deviating too far from the traditional form of handle how does one create abstraction. Here like the title “extend” a small protrusion from the main block serves as a reminder of the handles of the previous generations.
This concept though looks abstract still works on the similar principle of traditional handles.
