We started this project intending to develop a product that could be used as a promotion for the car. To be handed out free at the car unveiling or a showroom. After thinking about all sorts of things, we decided to design a condom package. Talking to older generations about their experiences with the old Fiat 500 was what gave us the inspiration, they talked to us about how affordable this revolutionary little car was, and how much freedom it offered them. Our condom package idea was supported coincidentally by a British car magazine, which voted the Fiat 500 as “the sexiest car in the world.” Wanting to express ourselves through more than just shape and colour, we came up with a slogan to integrated into the design. “Car revival, emotional revival”. The essence of the new Fiat’s shape has been translated into our design, through the bubbled shape, and the subtle colours. We imagined a hypothetic situation for the condom, where it could be placed in free handout bags as a promotional gadget, or on exhibition stands. Included is one image that shows the condoms being distributed at a Fiat stand, the condoms themselves are placed upon some tables which we designed. It’s not a puritan design, but its bold and that’s what in our opinion the Fiat 500 is.
