designer's own words:

Urban parking has reached crisis levels. As the number of cars continues to grow, the existing infrastructure simply cannot support it. Therefore, a bold strategy is required that will literally change the face of parking, and the urban environment, with an eye to the future. With the design of rugged urban vehicles like the Nissan Qashqai, parking can shift away from the paradigm of below grade parking vs. structured parking vs. surface parking. The most abundant square footage available in a city today is not below its foundation but rather at the window line. By shifting parking from a horizontal to a vertical condition, the cities of the future can start to integrate the growing fleet of parkers by incorporating their vehicles into the very exterior building surface. The denser the parking on a particular façade will help minimize heat gain and wind damage. This is an example of how an innovative parking concept can promote change by becoming a part of the urban solution.
