Glo worm light

Glo worm light by kelly fong from italy

designer's own words:

For the creation of the Glo-worm light, LED strip lighting and flexible plastic tubing are combined with a crocheted wool exterior to produce a piece that merges modern mass production with an age old craft. I endeavoured to create a piece that combined the best efficiencies of manufacturing today with the personal connection of hand made items, whilst also addressing societal issues.

As we look towards the future, it is clear that we all need to rethink the way we consume resources, with everyone playing their part in preserving our earth. Glo-worm provides indirect and compact task lighting, pushing users to re-consider the need to light up a large space. The wool exterior is a visual reminder to 'dress warmly' before heating the entire house, and the light can be manipulated into different forms- allowing individuals to control how they interact with the object in their immediate environment.
