designer's own words:

based on the classic curved round bar shape, this design has a slight twist.
an extruded cut made in to the top part of the handle, not only provides a strong visual focus point, but a practical addition to this long time classic form.
the flat top encouraging the hand to press in a downward motion, thus opening the door.
intended for manufacture with either aluminium, stainless steel or bronze
