designer's own words:

It is clear that people are stressed about hammering noise and don’t want to hear it at all.
This is Hit Beat. Before people use it, they cannot imagine what would be different from usual hammers. This is a hammer which is used for driving a nail, but the difference is it makes hammering sound into music not noise.
I design Hit Beat to have 10 tunes, CDEFGABCDEF. It has similar principle as a xylophone. Each edges of both side, total 8 edges, is a bridge connected to the central body in different length. Also, center of the hammering part of each side makes different sound, therefore there are overall 10 tunes. So that when a user hit a nail, it makes different tune depends on exactly where Hit Beat is hit. Thus, each time it hits nail, the tune can be varied.
Moreover, people tend to hammering with certain rhythm as beat of music. Which means when this 10 different tunes hammer meat the beat, it would be more like music. So that it makes people not to avoid the sound but listen to the sound by curiosity provocation of the sound.
