the concept of "hook" is based on new interactions with everyday and sometimes banal artifacts. it takes one object "the hook" and re-appropriates it to a similar but unique task. the materiality of "hook" aids in this new way of seeing the door handle. to fully distinguish this new artifact from its old self i envision a material other than metal, a silicone rubber would be ideal though metal could work as well. the shape of "hook" also suggests the appropriate actions via its form. i wanted a simple approach to yield a unique result.
