hourglass

hourglass by valerio sommella from italy

designer's own words:

This beer glass was conceived to help people pouring the perfect beer.the bottom and lower part of this glass are sand blasted for 2.5 cm and it's shape is perfectly symmetric like an inverse clepsydra. this way once a bottle of peroni beer is poured it should become a perfectly symmetric object: white bottom, white top (the foam) and golden body. If the beer is badly poured the this symmetric balance will be broken. It's full, soft and motherly shape underlines the full taste of peroni beer and its name, initially related to its reverse-clepsydra shape, perfectly suits the aperitivo time, the HappyHour.

thinking about the application of this project, it could be related directly to peroni bottles as the sizes of the glasses should perfectly match their content. 66cl of the big bottle, 33cl of the can and small bottles as shown in picture 3; this way the glass could be sold together with 6packs or given as a gift after a certain number o purchase.
