happy LED life! - a design competition for Gwangju International Design Biennale 2015

Light wheels

Light wheels by Sergey from usa

designer's own words:

By adding LED light under transparent cover of the bicycle wheel, we can make ride more safe and joyful. It wouldn't take a lot of money for development (all materials and technologies already exists), but it could save a lot of lives. Light would be seen from all sides and it will increase awareness on the road. They can work as brake lights by turning red. App will help to customize colors and presets. You can match colors to you clothes or mood, and everyday it could be different. Useful and fun for a reasonable price.

  • Hi Sergey!
Your idea is great where are you in its development?
Is it possible? I mean did the semi transparent PVC resistant and strong enough like the rubber that we have nowadays?
I’m so excited about the idea, cause I have some ideas around the bicycle and yours will be definitely a badass plus to my concept bicycle!!!
I really hope you’ll come up with a prototype!!! and collaborate together!
    All best luck!
And please if you have time to answer it would be great to hear from you!
