designer's own words:

Today, most of cities are covered with the asphalt and concrete blocks. However, the land covering impedes the ecological cycle. Moreover, it causes urban desertification, heat island effect, and a flood of sewage. But above all, the communication between oppidan and nature was cut off by the land covering. So I propose the smallest urban park instead of a huge green area project. This project is to redefine the relationship among the interface between urban&urban, urban&nature, oppidan&nature through the ecological cycle. In the meantime, a bus stop has had the only meanings of dry transferring and boring waiting. But the bus stop in a city is not only a meeting place of different elements, but also a public space where citizens are the most easily accessible. So I propose to make the bus stop do a role of the smallest urban park. The new bus stop will have a volume to be recognized as a hill by what people and nature circulate, not as just a station where has flowerpots. Through this volume, oppidan will find a new interface between city and nature in urban elements, and get back a missing link of the volume they could go up and sit down.
This smallest urban park has a role of water pocket. This place makes rainwater pure by ecological cycle, not by a chemical process. One bus stop can store 12,500ℓ to maximum once through Aquifer. If 10% of bus stops in Seoul(3000 pcs) are replaced with the new one, water will be secured for 11,000,000 people to maximum(per 340ℓ). In addition, this water pocket system will prevent a flood of sewage by storing some amount of water flowing to the sewage. The water pocket system supplies water not to cut off a flowing of people and nature in frequent droughts and floods. The surface of the bus stop is covered with 33.8㎡ green area. If 10% of bus stops in Seoul(3000 pcs) are replaced with the new one, we will have 101,400㎡ green area. This covers equal 1/3 area of the Central Park in New York. The wide green area can prevent urban desertification and heat island effect from doing transpiration.
