CATEGORY: CONVERGENCE OF SPACE

The “Mood Kitchen” is conceived as a modular system characterized by essential design. Its high flexibility may generate several module combinations that can be inserted in the space with no need to modify the existing building structure.
The “base module” is constitued by a wall that contains piping, electrical and lighting systems as well as the hood. The kitchen worktop, the storage units, the appliances, the basin and the cabinets may be attached to it.
A worktop/table slides into a fissure created at the center of the wall. Thus, it can be utilized differently on each side, according to the changing exigencies and the available space.
This fissure can eventually be enlarged to become a real window, which allows for the passage of food and light and creates a better communication between the spaces.
The table is the system’s key element: on the kitchen side, it may be used as a worktop as well as a small table for quick meals.
On the living space side, it varies its length by simply sliding on wheels and rails placed on the countertop.
Many modular elements—the refrigerator module, the dishwasher and washing machine modules, the high and low storage units—may be combined with the base module. Thus, the central module (which includes the table) can be symmetrical or asymmetrical, according to the available space where the system is inserted. This allows for a great amount of flexibility in the final combination.
The storage units have a clean and essential design: the handles are recessed in the thickness of the doors which hide drawers, appliances and storage spaces. The inside drawers are hidden by a single frontal door.
Cabinets, doors, worktop, table and storage units may be made of corian or painted wood, according to the house style.
This kitchen would perfectly fit into an apartment with limited space, in a loft, in a studio or in an open space kitchen/living room area.
This system emphasizes space while allowing for the flexible use of it; this concept agrees with modern life’s needs, which often change in a single day.
Thanks to the Mood Kitchen, space, functions and use, all converge into one modular element, while accompanying users during the fast and changeable daily rhythms.
