Mushroom

Mushroom by Katia R.Glossmann from spain

designer's own words:

bench - w1200 x d715 x h810 mm - the proposal is inspired by nature and like the branches and leaves of trees, the caps and stems of the mushrooms or the leaves and stems of water lilies, the organic shapes of the seat and back are joined to the bench structure. the seat and the backrest are composed of the same set of pieces, but its own disposition and the asymmetrical shape of each avoids a clear similarity, thereby contributing to the asymmetry and personality of the bench. the structure of circular section joins and supports each one of the pieces, it remains in a second plan to emphasize the organic forms of the backrest and seat, while providing visual lightness to the set. the shapes of molded wood pieces are the result of applying the voronoi diagrams from a number of points. each contour of voronoi cell generates and inscribed curve that defines the outline of the different pieces. the bench tries to bring greater innovation in the design of proposal to exploit the potential of existing wood industry and thus to achieve greater recognition of the properties and capabilities of the wood.
