i used adobe illustrator cs4. i also used the lvqr elements provided from the designboom competition page.
i opted for a minimal perspective on creating images that would "pop." by utilizing the white background, a competition requirement, the images i created could be recognized as lvqr's most well-noted character from 10 to 15 feet away. i also fancied the stripes and saw an opportunity to add a bit of french flair to the cheese wheel and cheese wedge. by strictly keeping the outline of the cow's head and the laughing mouth, the images are modernized without losing the brand's image.
