designer's own words:

The interesting thing about doors is that they are at the same time border and passage. As a designer this allows you to leave the two dimesional aspect and give the doors a three dimensional shape. The function of the door has become visible in its design.

'Push'
The swinging-door has originally been designed for the kitchen, but can also exist in other spaces that one enters frequently. The bulge on one side of the bottom end of the door and the recess of the bulge on the other side, creates an interesting three dimensional design and serves as a signal indicating
how the door should be used. By placing your foot on the bulge or in the recess one can kick the door open. This is a fucntional aspect of the design, because very often people's hands are filled when moving from kitchen to living-room or dinner-table. Besides this, it is also very hygenic because the door is not operated by a door-handle.
The swinging-door is inspired by the kitchendoors used in restaurants. The door is made of a sandwich of honey-comb with a 1.5 mm stainless steel finish on both sides. The bowl has been made by using a deep drawing technique.
