A rug inspired from the beautiful skin of pythons, woven by double ikat technique. Idea of this rug comes from the ancient times when kings used to keep skins of animals and snakes as a floor showpiece. Texture is of 2 types, VISUAL & TACTILE, here for the visual texture I have used the technique called double ikat in which both warp and weft are tied and dyed to get the desired pattern. I have used quilt weave technique to give the surface of the rug a 3D effect creating a puffed effect and it solves its tactility part. I have taken cotton in my warp and weft, whereas wool for the filling in quilt weave.

Transferring the pattern on the grid can be a good idea as it provide almost perfect idea for double ikat.
Tying and dyeing helps in getting different shades at different parts of warp and weft.
Color gradation and the knotted pattern should be perfectly done.
Patterns start forming as vertical warp and horizontal weft starts meeting at a right angle.
Here I have used quilting in weave to get a 3D effect in the fabric which helps in making it more tactile whereas double ikat makes it visually rich.
