designer's own words:

Autism a difficult condition to understand. Some of the kids have acute senses. They can smell or hear what a normal person cannot. This may stimulate a panic attack. This hyper behavior is difficult for the parents and teachers to controll. The child takes a while to calm down and there is a possibility of he/her getting injured if they are not supervised constantly.
Music therapy is widely used to calm down hyper autistic children. This easy squeeze unit merges with the every day toys. When a child becomes hyper he tends to press and clinch things. It was noticed that, when this unit was placed in front of the child having a hyper attack he/she grabbed it and pressed it, as their favorite song/voice/tune started playing this distracted them from the stimuli and helped them calm down. This can be made in materials with different textures. These children have certain tactile preferences. Appealing textures can also help them control their irritation. It is soft and safe for the children to handle.
Busy lives make it difficult to look after the child all day long. Recording your voice keeps you connected to your child. You can concentrate on your work and the child can have an indirect interaction with his parent.
A prototype has been tested on several occasions and has been able to distract the children from the actual stimuli and has helped them calm them down.
