Snow White
The project is inspired by the fairytale Snow White where the body of the beautiful girl lays in a crystal coffin.
This romantic vision has given birth to the idea of a crystal urn.
The snowwhite urn can take place in a private environment as a single memorial of a beloved person, or become a part of the community, becoming a piece of a single beautiful monument to death persons.
The showwhite tree replaces other methods of burial, solving the actual problem of saving space and creating a wonderful effect. The new cemetery becomes an enchanted crystal city where death and living persons meet again.
The urn itself is quite simple: a chromed inner plastic shell to keep the ashes, and an outer protective and aesthetical part made of crystal or cimply transparent plastic.
A system of magnets fixes the urn-moduls to each other to build the crystal structure in a tree shape.
Each urn has name and dates of the beloved person milled on the surface and a row of leds that enlight the written words. The circuit is getting closed by adding the module to the main structure a a sensor recognize that that person is part of the tree.
By adding the urn to the system a person does and let others share pictures/movies/songs/sentences – in other word memories – related to that person, creating a sort of database that is possible to consult privately (with the use of smartphones and tablets) or in the dedicated ares in the cemetery.
With the connection of the phone number it is possible to make a donation to the cemetery, to light up the urn of the beloved one, to share infos, to see datas.
The dedicated ares in the cemetery are of two kinds: one with tv's in the center, and one with projectors that can let you enjoy real size memories.
Benches in these areas and in front of the trees let you choose wheter to sit in these vision areas or just in front of the crystal tree with your beloved person.
The crystal urn and the trees change completely the idea of a cemetery, making it become a place where persons can share their memories and moments of joy with other persons.
The crystal urn simplifies also the goodbye moment for the family of the beloved person, letting them enjoy a more relaxed and positive environment, far away from the image of dark brown coffins.
