Solar Mount

Solar Mount by georg driendl from austria

designer's own words:

The organisation - on several levels, with living areas on six staggered half-storey levels. A staircase, connecting the levels and creating comprehensible reference points, is integrated into the special concepts and makes walking quite an experience.

Upon entering, one passes an elongated straircase that runs through the garden and comes out at the lower level. At the same time, one can also enter a gallery in the main area via a bridge; there is, with the exception of the self-enclosed office on the lowest storey, not one single closed-off section. The sequence of transparency and closedness brings in the light, creating natural changes in the series of rooms – depending on the month, the weather, the time of day and the season. The pool, on the same level as the living room, is an elongated, narrow basin on the western side of the building.
