designer's own words:

the push/pull handle design aims to develop a visual link between the handles aesthetic and its functionality. the handle has clean, modern lines which allow the user to physically grasp the handle with control yet also gives a visual association in the way in which it should be operated. this is the fundamental idea of this project.

the mechanical principles in this project, whilst secondary to the aesthetic, are as important in creating a functional and unique package. the handles are connected by a dual pivot arm with a specific curvature which modulates the compression of the internal latch’s spring. by modulating the compression of this spring, the dual pivot arm changes the position of the locking mechanism and hence opening the door.

in keeping with current practices, the handles and holders would be cast from aluminium with varying finishes to give it a complete and overall contemporary aesthetic.
