designer's own words:

A gift is deeply rooted in the Japanese tradition, where the presents are shared often around the year, and the value of the gift is less important than the intent with which it is presented. In Japan, the celebration of Christmas has increased in recent years, so the Grand Front Osaka one of the most famous commercial centers, needed a 'Gift', a gift of Christmas celebration. Being inspired from the gifting traditions of Japan the installation 'The Delight' has been designed, with an emotion of Christmas behind it. The installation, when seen from a distance behaves as a public art, where it engages with the audience and creates a curiosity of being looked inside, and while interacting with the work from inside, it gives an overwhelming surreal reaction as it encloses the emotions and elements of Christmas in it. The Red, having a cultural meaning of life and energy has been used as the color of the ribbon. The first glimpse of the installation is all about the joy of opening the gift ribbon and waiting for the experience inside. The viewer finds the joy of Christmas being reflected and projected within the enclosed form of 'the Delight' and is pleased by the spectacle perceived around all corners. The stainless metal taken as the material for the installation not only reflects the prospering industrialization of Japan but also when placed in the context of Osaka Grand Front will reflect the advancement of the cityscape around.
