‘amalgam collection’ by anthony horrigan

‘amalgam collection’ has been created by irish designer anthony horrigan. taking advantage of both technology and traditional techniques, the objects in the collection span from a variety of lidded canisters, stemmed bowls and vases, which explore the combination of precious metal and fine bone china. the collection is partly inspired by japanese bark tea caddies, as well as traditional acid etched tableware. based in stoke-on-trent, the historical capital of ceramic manufacturing in the UK, the objects have been cast in fine bone china, a traditional material used by the ceramic industry in stoke-on-trent for over 200 years. the glazed surface of the ceramic objects has been decorated by laser etching and gilded by hand in 24 carat gold and platinum.
