conceived by archohm in new delhi, ‘villa agra’ is an architectural solution in a tier 2 town. the restrained access to resources and tight site informed the project, focusing on optimizing space and materials. the façade is designed to establish a blank, bold and clean statement while respecting the privacy of the owners and articulating the design typology of front gardens and glass. a focus on scenery is created through fenestrations that are placed strategically in the form of north lights and structural glazing.

an introverted layout is planned with family living and dining sectors opening into a central courtyard that lends controlled illumination and views into this private residence. formal entertainment  points on one side and a private sleeping zone on the other define and shade the yard. the exterior features wood and interior a perforated skin of white and glass. the path throughout the home is directed by a ramping up and along the façade to a sixteen foot high door, then through a top-lit long and narrow passage, where one arrives into the double height entrance foyer with a clear bridge.

the bathrooms are fitted into elongated parallel area with black and white design board and bedrooms are defined by large spatial dimensions, punctuated with designer italian furniture. an attached study/ entertainment room is built-in with a cozy, comfortable environment that is augmented by dark wood flooring. in terms of functionality, the basement accommodates the cars and services, the ground level public functions, and the first floor contains the remote domain. the top story is an independent servant and service facility where routing has been developed, so as to keep the house insulated from any unnecessary traffic and landscape.
