simply by the swipe of a hand, this intuitive luminaire ‘area’ by german company dreipuls appears to turn on and off like magic. the level, or ‘area’ of luminosity may be activated or deactivated without the need for direct human contact. sophisticated LED sensors detect the desired width of illumination from the position of the user’s hands. the motion sensitive piece follows these waving movements, activating the corresponding lights and making it a highly convenient and energy efficient method. by instinctively grabbing and pulling the light it can be drag from one side of the lamp to the other, changing the levels of lux emitted into the room. originally intended as a modular under-cabinet lamp, ‘area’ is extremely flexible and can be used for a broad range of lighting applications.
