‘cloudloft ec – bytom-szombierki’ by db3design, bytom-szombierki, silesia, poland all images courtesy of bd3design

polish practice be3design have visualized ‘cloudloft ec’ located in bytom-szombierki in the silesia region of poland. the project converts an abandoned central heating plant into a loft with the focus of revitalizing the existing industrial and urban architectural landscape. the structure consists of three commercial chimneys which draw from the characteristics of the edifice to create a new skyline for the city.

the cloud structure floats above the stacks to form a new interior identity for the bytom society. the concept was to create an innovative, and functional solution to promote the conception of the FAKRO window products. constructing above the building showcases that the original design did not destroy the roof windows or cut into the facade of the building. the exterior is clad with skylights to mimic the image of a cloud and to blend into the natural elements of the environment.
