curl- series of three coffee tables by constanze schweda

developed by london-based designer constanze schweda, ‘curl’, a collection of single sheet of steel cut tables are made into a single, functional sculpture. the 2mm thin sheets behave like paper during forming before becoming rigid in the final stages, resulting in playful shapes. influenced by a form of japanese origami called kirigami, the table is similarly cut and folded into a three-dimensional form.

new versions of ‘curl’ will be presented during the 2012 london design festival.
