holly hayward: the hanger chair

hanging garments to create more cushioning

london-based architect holly hayward has designed ‘the hanger chair’, an object to stockpile clothing to create upholstery. influenced by a household coat hanger, the furniture piece is suspended from solid steel sections with special hook details to store different garments. as more apparel is hung and stored onto the chair skeleton, the seat becomes become more cushioned, encouraging being messy in aid of more comfort. hanging garments to create more cushioning
