luna seo: that piece of time

korean designer luna seo has developed ‘that piece of time‘ a furniture collection which consists of a coffee table and vase. these objects grasp time from the sunlight and shed unexpected, unrepeatable moments for you to cherish. it unveils pieces through the meetings between light and light-refracting materials.

the low coffee table consists of two levels of different height, with a prism filling in the gap between the tops. the sunlight circulates around the object, and when it touches the transparency in the right way, it breaks into a rainbow. it is made from solid wood walnut and glass. the vase takes ordinary moments and highlights sorrowful backgrounds. the piece is stabbed by its own holder, and is hung in the air. this vessel creates its own blossoms in time with collaboration with the sun. it is constructed from acrylic glass, stainless steel and granite.

refracting light

within the intention of awakening the appreciation of unconsciously forgotten elements of everyday life, ‘time’ has been the focal point of the story. it is a collaborative work with the sun, since the circulation of the sun is the actual body of time. the designer chose to work with spectrum; it shows what is embedded inside daylight and reveals its aesthetic. also as an advantage of working with the nature, it reinforces the rareness and unexpectedness, which are the keys to enhancing the appreciation and joy.
