‘parades’ or a small theater for everyday life, this freestyle installation of furniture ignores the architecture that surrounds it. like a overhead rug, a halo of light draws a perimeter on the ceiling, under which the pieces draw a scene that is constantly reinvented. I wanted furniture that was textile and pictorial, with sensual, colorful, and ornate shapes.

these costumed pieces required a supple, heavy, and fluid fabric. I choose ‘titan’, by élitis, with its warm stitch. the pattern that is applied to the loveseats originates from a gouache painting, and was chosen to express both the closeness and distance between the loveseats. the quality of ‘titan’ allowed us to obtain a digitally printed pattern that uses the texture and gets though the weaves to better capture the light deeply.

each of the pieces is enveloped, covered, wrapped in the fabric. dressed for the show, the loveseats, the standing mirror, the veil of light, the rocking ottoman, the mineral table, and the sunny chair are in full light under the ring.

french designer mathilde bretillot has designed ‘parades’ for the furnishing programme award of the VIA (valorization of innovation in furnishing), paris.
