‘zubrowka vodka’ branding by purple creative and kristjana s. williamslondon-based design studio purple creative have captured the zubrowka vodka brand’s 600 year old story in a magical way, by commissioning acclaimed artist kristjana s. williams to create a stylish, sophisticated and realistic collection of illustrations that would become zubrowka’s new visual identity. originally a fashion fabric designer, she interweaved black and white victorian engravings with contemporary illustration and bursts of vibrant colour – the perfect style to capture the wildness of the forest and the myth of the bison grass. purple was added in multiple layers of evocative detail, so that every time you look you discover something different – an owl staring from a tree trunk, a masked falcon, a grass picker’s basket, a local konik pony, a wild apple tree, the impossibly scare ghost orchid. the identity is unlike anything else in the spirits category, which is traditionally full of cocktail images and bright white identities, setting zubrowka apart through the use of kristjana’s illustrations. the identity has been translated onto social media feeds, website, tasting sessions, on-trade and experiential events.
