finland-based japanese architect satoshi ohtaki has designed a smiling and soft wooden chair called ‘luukku’. the piece was designed to bring out the nature of the ash without loosing the feel of the massive material. the object is composed of horizontal sticks with a space in the middle. the upper soft thin board above the opening touches  the lower thick plank before reaching its break point. to allow for elasticity, the 4mm seat and the 3mm backrest uses its extreme thinness to realized this new structure.
