german-based designer sebastian herkner has developed ‘coat’ for italian furniture company moroso. the lightweight and easy to move armchairs have no supports at their base yet are steady, resting directly and firmly on the floor. the concept for the piece came from the hosiery industry, specifically from the non-slip soles used for children’s socks. the prints are functional and decorative exhibiting a transparent silicone pattern that merges with the fabric to tone down the shade like a water color application. the upholstery is a soft and supple removable cover that wraps around and dresses the seat which maintains the design coherence intact.
