‘walnut shell seat’by tony o’neillfront view

the ‘walnut shell seat’ by london based designer tony o’neill is composed of panels CNC routed in solid timber, joined together to the seat pan by finger-like lap segments. although the construction is carefully considered, the furniture piece emphasizes the effect on the grain pattern by taking curved cuts through the wood. the grain was modeled by computer software before the cuts were made so as to predict the possible effects.
