testbedstudio architects have designed the writing workshop of "berättarministeriet", the ministry of storytelling in södertälje, sweden. the ministry of storytelling is a newly started charity with the aim of giving youngsters a place and opportunity to write stories. the architecture carries its own stories, supporting the creation of new dreams, dialogues and texts. for example the cushions are produced by the upholsterer’s leftover pieces from one year’s of work, displaying an array of current tastes. the writing workshop consists of a grid of nine smaller rooms, framed by aluminium profiles where each space may be closed or opened in any combination through a system of light curtains. the furniture, in the form of large bookshelves on wheels, stackable benches and steel tables with found wooden chairs, are easily movable. thus all contents of the room are flexible and may be rearranged to create a multitude of settings. thus there is not one space but 100 possible spaces that each contributes to and make up the ministry of storytelling.
