‘monastery complex’ by vaniko katamashvili, georgia

georgia-based designer vaniko katamashvili has proposed a ‘monastery complex’ in georgia. the religious structures takes its form from a cross which is positioned throughout the valley landscape. the compound is made up of six individual units, with a diverse program which consists of a church for worship, hospital, homeless shelter, hotel, workshop and living quarters for the monks. the exterior of the buildings of clad in a perforated metal to allow natural light into the spaces. the reflective surface creates an identity to the units as well as a visual marker to the site.
