the legs move in a twisting motion along the robot’s shaft

ichiro is a robot by leiteq whose design is derived from the idea of a wind-up toy reflecting the motions of nature through its walking movement. the prototype was made using SLS 3D printing technique and measures 25 x 18 x 6 cm. its simple anatomy allows only forward motions, and that’s why it’s called ichiro – which means ‘one road’ and refers to its straightforward motion and character. the tilted shaft propulsion drives ichiro’s six legs through a simple wind-up mechanism which rotates and initiates the robot’s walking motion.
