To express the ebb and flow of life, Italian jewelry artist Maddalena Bearzi has created the wave (“ONDA” in the language of the designer) ring. A single ONDA ring is a jewelry statement itself, but these rings create elegant ocean swells when combined in the same or different metals.

You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment,” wrote Henry David Thoreau.

The one-of-a-kind ONDA ring is part of the ACQUA limited edition collection of handmade and it’s available in silver (with or without black patina, or oxidized), bronze, and 14k solid gold.

Other handcrafted and unique jewelry by this designer – such as the Aria, Pianeta, and Terra collections or her innovative textile pieces – can be found in her online shop at http://www.maddalenabearzi.com.

STYLE MEETS SUSTAINABILITY IN ONE OF A KIND CREATIONS - A deep respect for nature, a passion for the discovery of different cultures, textures, and materials, and a commitment to ethical and environmentally-friendly practices are at the heart of this handmade, unique jewelry line. Maddalena Bearzi began making jewelry by joining sustainable textiles with distinctive elements such as repurposed metals, upcycled vintage charms, and natural stones, to reveal unique and texturized pieces. Textile-based creations have expanded to a focus on one of a kind, organic metal jewelry. Each piece is individually handcrafted. Take a look at her work at www.maddalenabearzi.com.
THE WOMAN BEHIND THE WORK -
Maddalena Bearzi is an Italian jewelry artist, biologist and author. Born in Verona, Italy, she has traveled extensively studying wild animals and learning new ways to express herself. She began to pursue her passion for jewelry craftsmanship on her own and later studied metalsmithing at the University of California, Los Angeles. Maddalena has learned techniques from master silversmith and jeweler Gordon Wainwright and world-recognized jewelry artist Harold O’Connor. Her jewelry draws from her experiences in other artistic media such as paint and textiles. Maddalena’s work has been exhibited in galleries and art shows.
As a scientist, Maddalena holds a Ph.D. in Biology and works as President of the non-profit Ocean Conservation Society. She has studied whales, dolphins and other animals, and she has published three books: Beautiful Minds: The Parallel Lives of Great Apes and Dolphins (Harvard University Press), Dolphin Confidential: Confessions of a Field Biologist (University of Chicago Press), and Stranded: Finding Nature in Uncertain Times (Heyday). She also works as a photojournalist and blogger for several media, including the National Geographic.
