Me and Bobby McGee

The blues ain’t nothin’ but heart break and Janis Joplin knew this more than most. Mesmerising, fabulous, fractured, wild and revered by all, Joplin left a legacy that mere mortals could only dream of.

This image made from her oversized sun glasses is a nod to an icon like no other.

Icons, design and rock 'n roll.

What makes an icon?

And how do we capture the iconic status of artists who worked with audio, in print? These were the questions that lead to the creation of this limited run of prints. David Bowie’s image is made from lightening bolts. Janis Joplin from her trademark sunglasses, Jimi Hendrix from his flaming guitar that set the world alight and Billie Holiday from the gardenia that she wore while singing and breaking the heart of an entire generation.

Using generative design techniques these portraits are crafted from pixelated icons customised and related to each musician.  Each print was carefully made using innovative print processes over premium quality paper. They’re all numbered and signed.
