millepiede necklace mimics delicate insect form
by Maddalena Bearzi Jewelry from US
The idea of this one-of-a-kind statement necklace came from the small world of millipedes (‘millepiedi’ in the language of the Italian designer). Millipedes are arthropods characterized by having two pairs of jointed legs on most body segments.
Maddalena Bearzi organic jewelry is inspired by the magnificent natural world around us, a world to not only appreciate but also protect. Using methods and often upcycled materials that avoid depleting or destroying the Earth’s resources, her pieces exemplify that style and sustainability go hand in hand.
Each piece is handmade, unique, unisex and wearable in many ways, from choker to long necklace. Length: approx. 22″ (56cm); adjustable length. A textile version of the “millepiedi” is available here. Other handmade jewelry by this designer – such as the Aria, Pianeta and Terra collections or her innovative one of a kind pieces – can be found in her online shop at http://www.maddalenabearzi.com

STYLE MEETS SUSTAINABILITY IN ONE OF A KIND CREATIONS - A deep respect of nature, a passion for the discovery of different cultures, textures and materials, and a commitment to ethical and environmentally-friendly practices are at the heart of this handmade, unique jewelry line. Maddalena Bearzi began making jewelry by joining sustainable textiles with distinctive elements such as repurposed metals, upcycled vintage charms and natural stones, to reveal unique and texturized pieces. Textile-based creations have expanded to a focus on one of a kind, organic metal jewelry. Each piece is individually handcrafted. Take a look at her work at: www.maddalenabearzi.com.
