terms and conditions apply

designer's own words:

This is a set of posters, to communicate the outrage over the sexual assaults against women, in our country. The first was made during the Guwahati incident and the second during the heinous Delhi incident.

The ‘Terms and Conditions Apply’ poster was a result of being deeply disturbed about the Guwahati incident. But that’s what it becomes, doesn’t it? An ‘incident’. We put it down as horrific and mind-numbing and it then has to make room for something more outrageous and heinous.

It’s a crying shame, that we waited for what took place in Delhi to want change. To even address the issue.
It is not ‘eve teasing’. It is harassment.
It is not ‘outraging her modesty’. It is abuse. It is rape.
Rape isn’t a ‘women’s issue’.

What is outrageous is people in the system unable to give rape and rape victims the priority they deserve. To look at the placid ‘it happens’ expressions on their faces is purely sickening.

The hypocrisy of a society that claims to respect its women.

There are no ifs and buts, when it comes to rape. I don’t know if the most aggravating part is the disgusting act itself or the fact that the victim is treated like the perpetrator. terms and conditions applyA set of posters made in light of the brutal sexual assaults on women in India, aimed at the hypocrisy that envelopes the issue.
