achille castiglioni (1918-2002) was an italian architect and one of the leading industrial designers of the 20th century. his inspiration was mostly everyday things, while many of achille castiglioni’s projects utilized ordinary materials. after world war II he joined the studio led by his two older brothers, livio and pier giacomo. when livio left the practice in 1952, achille and pier giacomo collaborated until the latter’s sudden death in 1968. since then, he was working alone and continued to innovate in the field of design. after his death, the achille castiglioni foundation is led by his daughter giovanna and wife irma.
