jaume plensa was born in barcelona and has been working internationally since 1980. the artist encapsulates themes of globalization and human presence, conveyed through mediums such as steel, bronze, sound, plastic and light. a very significant part of plensa’s practice operates within public space, where his pieces are installed throughout spain, france, japan, the UK, germany, canada, the US and beyond.
