social distancing, also called 'physical distancing,' is a phrase that refers to keeping space between yourself and other people outside of your home at an approximate distance of 2 meters or 6 feet. the term became widely used during the COVID-19 pandemic and has had an impact on the occupation of indoor/outdoor spaces, parks, and restaurants. the pandemic, which originated in 2019, provoked a big reaction from the design community with many projects proposed including medical masks and face shields as well as creative emergency responses.
