thomas heatherwick is a london-based british designer, who founded heatherwick studio in 1994. he is recognized globally for his work in architecture, urban infrastructure, sculpture, design and strategic thinking. some of the firm's most notable projects are google's california headquarters in collaboration with bjarke ingels / BIG, the learning hub at nanyang technologic university in singapore, the olypmic cauldron for the 2012 london olympics, the UK pavilion at the 2010 shanghai expo, and maggie's centre yorkshire.
